Dubbed as the “Rodeo Capital of the Philippines”, Masbate holds annually the Rodeo Festival featuring various cattle events such as bull riding, saddle bronc riding, streer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing, to name a few. This yearly show of prowess and brawns of Masbateno cowboys, cowgirls and farm hands gained Masbate’s prominence with its unique sports and flourishing livestock industry well complemented by its bounties of nature.
Masbate City is the gateway of the province , with flights and boat trips from Manila, Cebu and Roxas City. From mainland Bicol, it can be reached by fast craft or Ro-Ro from the Port of Pilar in Sorsogon, Burias Group of Islands can be reached from Pasacao, Camarines Sur, while Ticao Island can be reached via Monreal or San Jacinto Port from Pilar and Bulan in Sorsogon.
